A look back at the 2019 Event
The Lake Windermere Aquathon is a BC Non-Profit Society
"We love sport, nature & culture - let's do great things together..."
We are pleased to present the 2022 Lake Windermere Aquathlon. After a two year hiatus due to global pandemic, this premier swimming and running multisport event is back!
The Lake Windermere Aquathlon began as a grass roots multisport event which gained momentum in 2019 and experienced huge success as both an attractive entry point to multisport / triathlon, as well as a community event that supports local cultural and environmental initiatives. The first event of its kind held on the lake at Lake Windermere’s south shores, included a 1 or 2 km swim followed by a 5 or 10km run through the surrounding trails. The 2019 event was held in partnership with the ? akisq’nuk First Nation, supported by the province of British Columbia, as well as many other local community partners. With nearly a hundred regional, national and international participants and over forty volunteers it drew both youth and adult endurance sports enthusiasts from all over BC, Alberta and beyond.
The Lake Windermere Aquathlon was born from the organizer's personal passion for swimming, running, the outdoors and a desire to share the incredible beauty, power and culture of this unique environmental space.
In the wake of COVID-19 our organizers made the difficult decision to cancel both the 2020 and 2021 events for the safety of our participants. Looking to 2022 we have proposed an exciting new event location at Kinsmen Beach, in Invermere BC.
This year the event has secured highly sought after qualifying spots for both male and female athletes for the 2023 Aquathlon Multisport World Championships. The Lake Windermere Aquathlon is also host of the BC Aquathlon Provincial Championship. Prizing will include highly coveted BC Provincial Championship medals!
