AQUATHLON STANDARD COURSE (WQ & PC)

 

  • AGE REQUIREMENT: 16+ (Age is determined as age in the year of Competition - Eg. Your age as of Dec.31st 2022)

  • LOCATION: Kinsmen Beach, Invermere BC

  • DISTANCE:  750m Swim / 5km Run 

  • DATE: Saturday - May 28th, 2022

  • TIME: 1:10pm 

 

  • Provincial Championship: YES

  • Aquathlon Worlds Championship Qualifier: YES

  • Waves: YES / 30 per wave, seeded by expected finish time.  

  • Run Course: Paved, Closed-Course, 5 x 1km Laps

  • Water Temperature Classification: Cold Water Swim  15°-16°C  > Wetsuit Strongly Recommended (may be required)

  • Event Rules: Triathlon BC  / World Triathlon 

  • Facilities:  Water supplied on race site, Flush toilets, outdoor showers.  Nearby restaurants, accommodation and shopping.    

 

The Triathlon BC Sanctioned, Lake Windermere Aquathlon BC Provincial Championship Standard Course event is a premier multisport event held at the iconic Kinsmen Beach in heart of the spectacular Columbia Valley.  This event is a continuous multisport event, meaning that the transition is timed and is considered part of the overall scoring for the event.  Aquathlon is governed under the same rules as triathlon, so no additional swim aids are permitted other than wetsuits.  

 

The Aquathlon Standard Course consists of a 750m swim around Kinsmen Bay, in Invermere BC.  Participants should come prepared to swim in cold water.  After exiting the swim course, participants will transition into running shoes for a 5km run  (5 x 1km laps) around the closed-course, paved pathway system surrounding Dorothy Lake.

SPECTATORS

  • Spectators may watch the entire event from Kinsmen Beach and surrounding area, although the pathway system around Dorothy Lake is closed for the race.  There are cafe's and pubs within viewing area.    

 

PRIZING

  • This event is a Triathlon Canada, Age Group World Championship Qualifier for the sport of Aquathlon.  There is (1) spot for both male and female in each 5 year age group category to represent Canada in the 2023 Age Group World Championship(AGWC ).  Details for the 2023 AGWC have not been released yet.  More information on Age Group Team Canada can be found HERE.    

 

  • Top 3 overall male & female in each age category (16+) receive highly coveted Triathlon BC Provincial Championship medals (More information available HERE.)  All finishers are eligible for draw prizing and age group scoring recognition.
